surely this should be investigated? 12 Years, 6 Months ago
some very unreliable- some with very bad criminal records - have made allegations against a number of prominent people who have been arrested. None have been charged (I'm betting none will)

One was Lord McAlpine- dragged through the media sewer by a convicted fraudster who enquiries had previously declared to be a liar and fraud.

The police have obviously listened to every ratbag who has come forward with a dubious claim.

I suppose they must - that's their job.

Gary Glitter has said he has been the victim of a conspiracy perpetuated by a tabloid newspaper. I'm almost 100% convinced this is true after looking at the circumstances and the characters involved ( a lying and crooked stringer in Thailand)

Now the Leveson Inquiry has shown that Fleet Street tabloids have been involved in serious criminal conspiracies.

Shouldn't the police investigate Glitter's claims ? If not, why not ?

Not sure what you are hetting at. Hedda-tas?

Glitter was CONVICTED of child porn offences in this country and also CONVICTED of other offences (abuse of a minor?) in S E Asia wasn't he?

Or did I dream that bit ????

Are you saying the police should ignore someone pointing them in the direction of a criminal ?

(Interesting that of all those arrested under YewTree, Glitter is the only one so far to make no comment - and not issue any denial? Of course, no one should read anything into that - it not up to him to prove his innocence (esp when he hasnt been charged with anything). Perhaps he feels he's had more than enough publicity already?)

I wish it would be followed up.

I thoroughly believe there are too many people blinded by the awful newspapers.

This blog is one, I found extra annoying:
www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&...jtZe2X2pcdgK6_Ob3siQ

I remember watching This Is Your Life, at the end of 1992 & it's rather distubingly gross, how daft idiots try to read into it, 20 years on. Basically this person says the young girls must of been blind, to even look at GG (insulting words on their own & what a stupid statement). Looking at the show again, it reminds us how popular GG was, before the Press destroyed him.

I've be wondering who bailed GG, after his original arrest in 1999. I read a rumour that it could of been Jimmy Savile. Could this be another reason for trying to destroy Jimmy (but not having the guts to try & do it, while he was alive).

oh do keep up ITK-

GG admitted guilt over the porn matter while at the same time the NOTW aided by Max Clifford offered a claimant a huge bounty if GG was convicted of assault. That is a conspiracy to pervert the law- although it skirted around legality.

The judge criticized the NOTW and the jury found him innocent of the assault charge, He got 3 (?) months for the porn charge which would indicate the material wasn't the worst.

The NOTW then went on a vicious and unprecedented campaign of harassment of GG wherever he went to live. You would think he was a murderer the way they stalked him.

The Thailand stringer has already boasted of bribing local officials in Vietnam and entering the country illegaly along with a photographer (now he has removed those elements from his tale but Google cache still carries it). There are also claims he bribed Hong Kong officials to gain exclusive access to GG for the NOTW.

(there is a US journalist - financed by another wealthy US publisher, working on this along with endless incidents where News Corp has bribed officials and police around the world- Murdoch may find he is in serious trouble in the USA eventually) He is more hated in the US especially by the powerful, than he is in the UK.

More serious charges in Vietnam against GG were dropped when he paid a legal bounty to the claimants : a shocking situation where it pays to falsely accuse any wealthy westerner (which is everyone)

## and again (as I have been arguing with a London professor of philosophy for years who claims 'pedos are recidivists and should be locked up for life) no-one has ever come forward since about GG except in Yewtree.

I still say it : not one of those arrested will be charged.

I don't reckon anyone will be charged either. Most of all I think that there isn't a case for Jimmy Savile, either. Only wish the fella was still alive, to blow it all apart...but then if he were alive, then this Kettle of bullshit, would never of boiled up, anyway.

One person is responsible for this hyped up tosh & that person is a certain retired dicky dick.

Just thinking if Glitter was found guilty of dowmloading obscene pictures...What about the site they came from? Were the owners also prosecuted? Probably not. In which case is it not illegal run such a site?

of course it is and even viewing them is a crime. Tosspot has undoubtedly committed that crime with his great twitter discovery for a tabloid when he claimed he encountered pedos posting sick pix.

He also advises others who inadvertently view kiddie porn on twitter and elsewhere to inform police- in other words go to the cop shop and say "hey I committed a crime like Tosspot and viewed child porn..what should I do?"

GG claimed he had viewed around 10 pics and deleted them..not being computer savvy perhaps he didn't realise they were still cached...the computer shop claimed they found 3/4000. How do we know the computer technician didn't place them there?

I believe if GG believed what he said he should have pleaded Not Guilty and fought the case better...but he was weighed down by an assault charge organised by a tabloid and probably worn down by the whole thing.

His treatment since will go down in history as a travesty of the state brutalising one man at the behest of a newspaper.

It has been bizarrely brutal and vicious including endless insults about his looks and career--mainly by the same tabloids who made money by promoting him in their pages. Just as they did with Jimmy Savile.

I do agree. Considering it's no secret that GG is intellectually backward. Illiterate in the 60s (whether he learn to read & write properly, we don't know for sure). Indeed that too, would stunt his case.

Watching his This Is Your Life, he comes across as a bit of an old softy, too.

Given the facts, it's a big certainty he was taken for a ride, in more ways than one.

Unfortunayely (just like the JS hype) the public can't see it.

A further basis, if he were as bad as portrade, then where are the tons of girls, that could of sais similar in the 70s? We've not heard from any, except the dodgy story from a 16 year old, claiming to be 14.
