Algerian gas plant seige 12 Years, 6 Months ago
Its clearly a disaster - judging by the delays in telling us whats happening.

They should have consulted the posters on this board "who live and work in the area" for accurate information LOL !!!!!!!!!

Numbers remain unclear - though one has been confirmed.

Damage limitation under way ! 12 Years, 6 Months ago

All day yesterday we were led to believe about 30 people were involved (dead?) - now we are told "far fewer than 30"

When they announce 20 dead it will seem like a success !

The FO (or the PM) said nothing of the kind.

This is a very delicate and serious matter - where the real news will surface at the right time, and not before.

More casualties seem inevitable. Success is not an appropriate word here.

News media (BBC) again saying "30 unaccounted for" - www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21085590 - more than 2 days after the raid started.

Its quite clear they (UK government / media) haven't got a clue whats going on and are clinging to any announcement by any news agency.

When the full story comes out we will see - just as I predicted - what an almighty cock-up tyhis has been.

ROT; our forces are in a frightening mix there, with little media! Thankfully - HMG and are doing everything to get our people out. Military strategy won't allow breaking news and updates. Do you not see that ITK? To you, its all 'LOL and cock up' before knowing the facts. Sadly, it seems more are dead now....

Those (on this board) who have previously told us that "they live and work in the area" had better beware in future. Its quite clear the Algerians have no regard for the hostages and are intent on killing the militants no matter what.

Newsnight reported that the Algerians attacked a convoy of 5 vehicle trying to escape (knowing that hostages were in them) - destroying three. A fourth blew-up and some hostages escaped from the fifth vehicle.

The British (and most other governments) would have waited and had protracted negotiations to try and win the militants round - and (despite what they always say about not negotiating with terrorists) trying to do a deal.

One almighty cock-up !

The siege could go on for days and now the attackers know the Algies are planning to kill them it doesn't look good for the hostages

A Cock-Up from start to finish !!!! 12 Years, 6 Months ago
Algerian troops have ended a siege at a gas facility in the Sahara desert killing 11 Islamist militants after they killed seven hostages, Algerian state news agency APS has said.

Like I predicted - a cock-up from start to finish

(and if you actually believe and of the above story then you are dafter than I gave you credit for !)

Why repeat what's been on the media all day?

Your predictions are from an armchair.....

Remember Alf Garnett? Your brother?

So, 23 (admitted) hostages are dead (probably most killed by the Algerians), but what about these -

* Ten Japanese unaccounted for
* Five Norwegians missing
* Five Britons and one UK resident feared dead or unaccounted for
* Unknown number of Americans
* Possibly citizens of Romania, Thailand, the Philippines,
Colombia, South Korea and Austria

(source - www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21106795)

Notice also - absolutely no details of how many Algerian soldiers have been killed?

The doubts are emerging !

Several hours after the troops stormed the gas plant, President Barack Obama said the US was seeking from Algerian authorities a fuller understanding of what took place
(from - news.sky.com/story/1040373/algeria-hosta...ds-brits-feared-dead)

Mr Hague insisted that it was too early to come to any judgement about the Algerian operation.

"I don't want to at this stage enter into criticism or judgement because there will be a lot to be learned yet about this operation," he said.

The Algerians have (finally) discovered that their figures dont add up LOL ! -

===

The death toll of foreign and Algerian workers taken hostage during a siege at a desert gas facility may rise from 23, an Algerian minister has warned.

A final tally would be released in the coming hours, communications minister Mohammed Said told Algerian radio.

Well, what a surprise (NOT !) -

At least 48 hostages are now thought to have died in a four-day siege at an Algerian gas plant, as reports say that 25 bodies found at the complex on Sunday were all those of captives.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21114512

"at least"?
They still cant count, can they?

Its blatently obvious to anyone what happened here.
The Algerians went in - all guns blazing - shooting at anyone and anything and then tried to work out the figures later, concocting a ridiculous story (to cover their actions) along the way.

But what else would you expect from a country that we sub-contract torture too? (that is, if we condoned torture, which of course we dont LOL !)
