He played Alan Dawson, didn't he. Yeah, ITV's first ATV Soap, well before the dodgy sets of Crossroads. Didn't he go back to Australia later? I seem to remember he played an Inspector in a murder series, for the 7 Network.

I was about 12 and had a bit of a crush on Nurse Carole Young (Jill Browne); Desmond Carrington was in it - still very good on Radio Two - and a very young John Alderton who I later introduced to his future wife Pauline Collins. Actually, Emergency Ward 10 had equally dodgy sets. (I know, my Dad provided all the hospital doors in the sets). Both EW10 and Crossroads were filmed at Birmingham's ATV studios.
