I always said her heart was in the right place.
But it was legalised in 1967 anyway, wasn't it?!
Either way it will always be a dodgy subject to the Christian Church. Though the Bible goes with "Ye should not judge". Is hyposcrisy a genuine rule, through life? It would seen so.

Exactly; that's one of the things I loved about Maggie. She was upfront, honest and she genuinely did what she thought was right; not what would make her popular. She also did more for women than almost anyone else.
On the other side, she was wrong about many things and lost her marbles towards the end.
Having met her, she was also hugely charismatic and had a terrific sense of humour delivered deadpan.
"What a delightful waistcoat," she said to me, "where did you get it?".
"Harrods" I replied.
"Was it on sale?".
I burst out laughing and she allowed me a sly glimpse of a smile.
