TOPIC: Chris Huhne and his son
#93606
Chris Huhne and his son 12 Years, 5 Months ago
Am I the only person truly offended by the publication of his son's messages? Yes, I know we carried them here but that was after they were all over the print media; and yes, I know they were presented as court evidence, but we all know divorces are awful things; people turning love into hate is an unpleasant reality.

Somehow this publication is abuse. It really offends me; not what was said but revealing such intensely personal stuff. The media should not have published it; the judge should have ordered it kept private.

Further evidence to me that society has lost its moral compass.

And why was it published?

Because it's a great story, of course. The only thing that matters.

If politicians aren't interested in other people's privacy, it's fitting they get their own privacy invaded. This arrogant little shit deserves all that he gets. Hopefully his similarly devious ex-wife will meet the same fate.

What it shows me though, as someone who feels the same about my own father as Chris Huhne's son feels about him, is a son who is devoted to his mother.

i don't blame the press on this one but either the judge or the solicitors should have ensured that evidence was never disclosed in open court. I'm assuming that the wife or son didn't want these messages go public.

The ex-wife actually got work through this tawdry little case. Suddenly, following the start of her notoriety, she was the BBC's expert of choice for all kinds of economic matters, popping up all over the place (and so often seated next to Andrew Neil she practically overtook his toupee in appearances), even though her expertise - real though it is, although not as broad as depicted - had been overlooked previously by TV. None of these people have any shame.

I'm not sure why I'm commenting, as this case is trivial in all aspects. But I do want to say that as both of them were in this together, and I'm sure that in "Happier times" they both equally agreed to say she was the driver, the only thing I hope is they get EXACTLY THE SAME PUNISHMENT!

I'm very much assuming that they did want them to go public. As desperately sad as it is, I think they very much want the world to know what they think of Huhne and to make his life as miserable as possible. Your mileage may vary on the extent to which he (or anyone) deserves this, but it's certainly not an accidental "leak"...

I think they are delighted it is in the papers. Jeremy Kyle any day now.
What a horrible family!

my vast experience tells me that these public demolitions of family members by their own, always ends in grief for all.

I have never seen a bitter family squabble benefit anyone.

But my original point is - we, as society, the media, the law - should not be a part of this.
