Having taken over the mantle of blogging on the BBC4 repeats, can I offer a greater recommendation than this risible whinge?

"Erm.. He HAS been proven guilty..." easy to understand even intelligent, perceptive people feeling this when the Head of the Police body investigating it says so and almost all media says so... how on earth could that happen if he HADN'T been proven guilty? Incredible. Unbelievable.


He may indeed have been totally guilty of every single charge. We're not saying he wasn't. But we're not saying he was, either, without a fair trial (impossible these days even if he was alive, as I discovered 12 years ago).

I have yet to see rock solid evidence against Savile.
How on earth have we slipped into a society where anybody who has been alone with somebody else for five minutes can have them arrested simply on their say-so?
I am aware that for many years abusers would attack children knowing that there would be no evidence and the child would not be believed, but to attempt to redress the balance by abandoning justice is very dangerous.
