things that should never be privatised:
*The Prisons
*The Courts
*The Police
*1st Responders (Fire, Emergency)
*Education (Universal)
*The Postal Service
*The Administration of State Parks and other Public Lands and Resources including Energy.
*The Military (no armed "Private" Contractors, & NO "private contractors" of ANY sort in War Zones)
*Roads & Bridges
*A Basic National Transportation System
*Energy Grids (including Roads, Rail, Pipeline)
*Drinking Water
*Communication (Publicly Owned Free Internet for EVERYBODY)
*Health Insurance
In a democracy, ALL of the above (and more) should be protected assets of The Commons.
They should ALL be publicly owned,
non-profit,
completely transparent and accountable to The Public,
and administered BY a Government of The People on an EQUAL basis.
If "Private Enterprise" wants to compete with these Publicly Owned/Government Administered Agencies, they are free to do so,
but Private Competitors should NEVER receive a single penny of Public (Tax Payer) Money.
The Privatization of ANY of the above should raise serious Red Flags in any democracy.
## Included should be a National Bank owned by the People that competes with lower fees etc.
Amongst rights that should be guaranteed
*The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
*The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
*The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
*The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
*The right of every family to a decent home;
*The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
*The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
*The right to a good education.
part of Hedda Galloway's Manifesto but basically...brought to you by that loony lefty FDR in 1944.

Ha ha, but that's all we've got time for on 'That's Familiar' for another week. But don't despair - next time on the show we'll be reminding ourselves of that hilarious old ad for pork luncheon meat, revisiting that wonderful Candid Camera jape with the goldfish made of carrots, and we'll also be repeating that brilliant gag about who reads each national newspaper. You know, the one that ends with Sun readers and big tits? And Hedda will be back, disguised as Cyril Fletcher, to read out some amusing street names. So, cheerio, and sleep tight!

It now turns out that we taxpayers are also keeping her in a life of luxury - she has a horse and has tried to buy 2 more !
An outraged neighbour said: “It’s disgusting. I don’t pay my taxes so some jobless baby-machine can have a horse.”
Matthew Sinclair, chief executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Benefits are there to provide a safety net when people fall on tough times, not fund an enormous house and a pony.
A horse? How can she afford a flaming horse?
The child benefit doesn't stretch to horses does it?
I would pay good money to see that neighbour interviewed fully.

...And finally, Hedda...
...And finally, Esther... I am indebted to Mr Kenneth King of London for the most amusing photograph of the odd-shaped potato! But I close for now with this intriguing observation from Mr Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, which I presume is in Surrey. He writes: "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. The functionaries of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property of their constituents. There is no safe deposit for these but with the people themselves; nor can they be safe with them without information. Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe."
