TOPIC: Rupert Murdoch
#94342
Rupert Murdoch 12 Years, 4 Months ago
His independent Directors won't allow him to appoint his Editors until he swears the Times and Sunday Times will remain separate. Why? Surely it makes sense to merge titles in this seven day week era, with the internet stealing customers. It strikes me everyone wants to put the boot in.

Murdoch is no saint; he's a bloody good newspaper man with giant flaws. Let him run his papers his way.

another devotee to the Cult of Rupert.

He is not a successful newspaper man..he is a successful smut peddlar...an older version of Richard Desmond.

The one major European country where Murdoch has no influence- Germany- still has a thriving newspaper industry with tabloids every bit as glossy as Murdoch's (and far more stylish..The Sun is downright ugly)and great serious newspapers and a superb magazine industry.

The Time's workers are sensible to hold out ...Murdoch is a wrecker and the old goat will be gone soon.

His sons are dullards and idiots who haven't a clue about digital (remember Rupert bought My Space and sold it for a fraction of what he paid ?)

His daughter is equally as stupid who is propped up by dad.

The Daily Mail has always been Britain's most successful newspaper with best graphics, marketing and mix of tales. It's never been touched by Murdoch.

By the way, has anyone else had problems with the new Times app? Not that I'm remotely techy, but seeing as you get access anyway when you pay to enter Rupert's rag, I thought I'd try it, and the new app, in my experience, is AWFUL. I have to keep binning it and re-installing it and it still freezes or just fails to work.

former Rupert Murdoch associate disagrees with JK :

"As I have written before in IA, I knew Rupert very well during the first 20 years of his career. I was not the first journalist to realise that Rupert knew nothing whatsoever about real journalism. I can remember him walking around the building one day demanding to know whether The Australian should have column rules or not. When he asked me, I’m afraid I laughed at him and said:

“You choose, you’re the boss.
