Just makes it so obvious that these chaps should have a Retirement Plan - about a quarter (c50) are over 85, and some near 100!

after speaking to my VIP Catholic pal...the fix is in. (he is very knowledgable on politics in the Vatican)

The UK Bishop was a set-up...a political scalp and he sensibly fled (retired)

There are 27 Italian Cardinals..out of around 127 who will vote.

Those who are perceived to possibly vote the wrong way have been sent a message (via Keith O'Brien)...it only takes one example.

The next Pope will be an Italian.

Hedda is never wrong.

The Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI has now retired - never to be seen in public again. He's goping to be a hermit.

Just like Celestine V, a 13th century Pope who reigned for only five months, and quit to become a hermit.

Pope Benedict XVI visited Celestine's tomb (unplanned) in 2009 and left his pallium, a vestment he received when he was created Pontiff in 2005.

Celestine V was from the Bendictine order.

How strange.

No. The Pope has now retired - and is now the Emeritus Pope, who has no plans to retire

Yes. Unplanned - as was the earthquake, whose destruction he went to see in the area....
