"a prominent child abuse campaigner,"

I keep saying it...there is something seriously weird about all these protection "experts" and one day something dire is going to happen.

But there doesn't seem to be any proof of bullying here...I'm feeling that many kids today are forcibly made to grow up to fast. What on earth was he training in order to get a six pack? He was only 14.

There are things there, that just do not add up. Did the woman's own campaign, have something to do with it?

I'd guess that bullying in 2013, would be worse than (say 1973). Jealousy & bullying tend to go together these days. Items such as Mobile phones, latest fashion etc. Slightly less apparent in 1973. Bullying back then, would of been more of backgrounds & living on the right side of the middleclass/working class fence.

Though I fail to understand this Daily Mail "story", i'm pretty glad I don't have to go to school today...but there (again) seems not much evidence of bullying to see here, less there was an ego bassed thing, centred around jealousy from other kids?

Poor soul, could he not have been moved to another school?

I didn't realize she is a tabloid campaigner.

I have to put a pertinent point that may sound very tough : she wasn't very good at protecting her own child from abuse was she ?

which in a way proves my point : child abuse is such a serious and terrible matter and tabloids are running these ill-informed and sensational campaigns that benefit no-one and possibly do great harm

And as sexual abuse is only about 17% in child abuse cases- they take the spotlight off the majority of harmed kids.

look at the resources being poured into the Savile matter !

That poor mother and father!
Shy Keenan is the lady that Esther Rantzen claims did not tell her about Savile. Very odd. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/45871...le-18-years-ago.html

Will she become an anti bulling campaigner now too?

But no one would know the exact reason for this but the boy himself, and perhaps he didn't feel confident enough to talk to anyone about it and felt trapped...?

There should be more support for people being bullied/going through a hard time at school I think, it's a common problem...

this saga gets curiouser and curiouser.

In fact it's just bizarre. The report about the suicide is almost casual.

I'm puzzled.

You make some good points Hedda.

At the risk of sounding bad, as I don't know what happened, but something has gone very amiss when a 14 year old boy with practically his whole life ahead of him is aloud to become so badly depressed that he feels he has no choice but to kill himself.

He maybe didn't discuss what was upsetting him with his family, but it doesn't sound like he had much support either....

It would appear this story is story is being publicised against the wishes of the family!

From the comments:
"I was a close school friend of Ayden and I wish for this post to be removed. His family have expressed a desire for this not to become public and It was his mothers wish to post a picture and a tribute on twitter but nothing more. It is disgusting how you haven't asked anyone if they wish for this to be posted online. I have reasons to believe that his death has little to no link with bullying. I will not answer any questions you may have so please be respectful to his families wishes and take this down, tributes are being made and having all these news articles taken down would be a good one. Thanks for reading"

The announcement and photograph were placed on Shy Keenan's public twitter. The one she uses for work, and it is available for all to see, despite there being a facility to restrict views.
I think it is perfectly reasonable to assume that the family do not want it to remain private.

I suppose theres a fine line between wanting to inform people of his death, so as they can attend the funeral etc, and having the story published in the Daily Mail (where no doubt they get some there facts wrong)...

I wonder if they are all Jimmy Savile's?
You know - the abuse is so obvious that no one notices it?

C'mon little girl, just take your knickers off so I can see if you've been abused !!!!

I wonder if some of those people are actually 'over protection experts'...

Re:Weird? 12 Years, 4 Months ago
I noticed her Tweet and even find that very strange.

I think her website is disturbingly commercial (books etc for sale) but it's clear it sort of ground to a halt some time ago.

It's a classic case .....someone so obsessed with the 'cause" (in the atrocious Sun of all places) and yet apparently oblivious to what is happening in their own home and to their own family.
Joining in the campaign to denounce others etc and produce simplistic cures for highly complex problems...

it would be churlish to suggest this is Karma at work ..for a parent to lose a child at such a young age is the ultimate tragedy. Yet...yet...

I wouldn't say karma, i'd say actions have consequences.

You can't help your son being bullied in the first place, but you can do nothing, or you can try and help him through it e.g find other things to divert his attention, build his confidence or get him away from it...

I dont think it is fair for anyone to blame the parents. It seems the boy was mentally disturbed and the parents had gone through the "proper" channels and were waiting for therapy for him.
I am not sure it is possible for parents to build confidence sufficiently in the small amount of time they are with them, compared to a barrage of insults elsewhere, and it can stem from complex mental conditions that should be dealt with by professionals.
We do not have the option to simply "remove" children from school unless education otherwise is already taking place, and then the child can be de-registered. Most parents wait until school holidays.
Transferring to another school can take a long time and is not always possible. (in this case it seems he did not want to move, and this is common for bullied children)

Shy Keenan does not fit into the same category as the "Savile pinched my bum" mob. She was abused in the most horrific way right through her childhood and we have no doubt it is true because we heard her stepfather admit it in a very matter of fact way in the television programme. Absolutely chilling.
I Don't know who told her about the Savile rumours (i have suspicions)but I would believe her over Esther any day.

More detail. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/justi...er-sons-suicide.html

Here is a woman who may have gone through terrible things but what on earth is she doing writing as some sort of 'expert' in The Sun..a publication that has done much to destroy people and families ?

why is being a victim a license to pontificate on the woes of the world ?

it's the uneducated and the ignorant preaching to the same. And she is a prime example.

She should be shown sympathy for the death of her child but at the same time she contributes to the dreadful things that happen to others. She is part of the syndrome that fosters hate of anyone who veers from the 'norm'. It's The Sun that threatens and terrifies politicians into keeping hundreds of people locked up for years beyond their jail sentence.

For crying out loud..The Sun is the flagship of everything that is hideous and criminal about the Murdoch empire and it's caused deaths and the destruction of innocent lives, the tearing apart of 1000s of families, the demonization of people who put a foot wrong who it preaches must be crucified for the rest of their life (along with their families)...Murdoch's empire-financed always by The Sun beat the war drums and assisted the US/UK to kill thousands of Iraqis and maim tens of 1000s of Afghanis....this is madness.

and anyone who cannot see that and makes piddling excuses for those who work inside the evil empire have either been asleep for 30 years or is brain dead.

I dont blame the (genuine) victims for wanting to help, and they can give valuable support to others, especially when professional help is lacking.
However, they are very often further exploited by the likes of MWT and Esther, and should never be consulted about sentencing and treatment because they probably have an unbalanced view.
What possible good does it do Denise Fergus to be provided with details of her son's murderers and be traipsed all over TV giving her opinions?
As for the government or anybody else taking advice from Gerry McCann, HAHAHAHAHA!
