Today in Parliament - better justice for Victims 12 Years, 4 Months ago
I totally agree - as a victim of false allegations - but somehow I doubt we'll be considered... small children who are victims of abuse is a MUCH better story.

I think a horrible side effect of the child abuse hoo-ha is that it will become normalised.
It is impossible for complainant and accused to be tried fairly in many cases because of the nature of the crime.(or no crime)
And I think we have to accept that there can be no trial without evidence and concentrate on finding ways to prevent abuse and to protect children.

Maybe the Old Bailey is a figment of my imagination.

In my experience the words "Justice" and "Old Bailey" rarely if ever go together.

Trial without evidence? I think you are about to see it, very soon...In the your word against someone elses scenario, set off last October!

You're a strange mixture of affected cynicism and disguised optimism, JK. You oscillate wildly between relativism and dogmatism, fatalism and defiance. You want justice but also dismiss the justice system. You sometimes demand change and sometimes sneer at those who ask for it. You sometimes claim to have enjoyed your wrongful imprisonment and sometimes clearly feel bitter about it. If only you'd find the courage to be honest about how you feel and fight consistently for a positive change. A serious, open, sincere contribution might just be the most effective thing you could do at this stage, partly because it would be the least predictable move you could make.

Isn't Barry George a victim?

He was fitted up, tried and imprisoned by the State despite being an innocent man.

No one has been prosecuted for any of this and the Police involved are still getting their wages and adding to their pensions.

Is that justice?

he most certainly is.

we have the "victim's" industry and the Rescue Industry

Our politicians are now totally ignorant and don't seem to understand that the law is meant to be imposed impartially. In a sense the victim's personal circumstances should be ignored.

But the media runs all this now. We are all Rupert's puppets.

You appear to miss the point, Dai, that everything is a mixture of colours. I don't "veer wildly" from one extreme to the other; I constantly say the truth is always somewhere in between the easy options. Feel free to continue thinking simplistic slogan attitudes are the answers but please don't read me assuming I really feel the same. If you can't comprehend nuances, go elsewhere.
