He would have been better leaving out the bit about it being a punishment for past lives,but what he said about pop stars is correct and the newspapers irresponsible to use the word "paedophile" when he was clearly talking about young adults.

Wonderful link, Honey, as it illustrates the gradual Chinese whispers that the media specialises in... a better story is less "open" so "implies" becomes "says" and so it goes on. Next we'll be reading of him boasting that he's buggered millions of babies in the last week.

"bring things upon themselves"... if you believe in past lives, that makes sense. "Deserved it"? To me a totally different thing - except that's how the media works. Nudge the truth, colour the words, sneak a few levels of extreme in... it's a better story.
