Grammar Question 12 Years, 3 Months ago
Why do the media these days use 'woman' to describe a woman while they continue to use 'male' to describe a man? One wouldn't say 'man Prime Minister,' one would say 'male Prime Minister,' but they are all now saying 'woman Prime Minister' instead of 'female Prime Minister'. Why?

Brilliant! I'll move on now to urge the banning of 'haitch'.

I can just about live with "Haitch" but I want to thump people who say "brought" instead of "bought"
