because she didn't care whether you did or not.

Ring any bells?

Yes, the bells at the entrance to the Home for the Chronically Self-Obsessed. (Philpot doesn't care what anyone thinks of him either, nor did Fred West, nor did Stalin - another brilliantly reasoned argument from you!)

Quite right George; let's only get politicians whose entire concern is what the Mail thinks of them and have no interest in what's right or wrong.

yeh, A. Hitler didn't care either. Actually most politicians up until T,Blair were like that.

mind you from what I read of from those who knew her well, she really did care about people not liking her.

But forged ahead anyway.

Not really a pertinent response, was it? Very tetchy when shown to be muddle-headed. 'I like Thatcher. So how can I make that into an argument for why people should like me? I know - I don't care what people think about me!' Except, er, you clearly do!

Which is the correct thing to do isn't it?

Slightly off subject, "Ding Dong The Witch is Dead" has re-entered the Top 60 today - and is likely to go higher.

I don't suppose it was because the fim Wizzard of Oz has been shown on TV recently is it?

I reckon she was the Kim Jong Un of Finchley and just as bat-shit crazy.

I recall reading many times that those who worked with her thought she was bonkers.

It must be wonderful to not care what people think. I sometimes see people at the shops in pyjamas and curlers talking loudly about their thrush and they always look blissfully happy.

I think the key is not so much not caring what people think of you but being prepared to be unpopular if you're truly doing the right thing for the country (as I'm sure she believed though she was often mistaken) as opposed to caring so much what the media tell the people to think about you that you only do things which can at least be painted as popular.

Margaret Thatcher is compared to Churchill and the comparison demonstrates a great change in the UK.

Churchill united people at a desperate time and was successful.

He was immediately dispensed with by the same people when his job was concluded.

In contrast Thatcher was lauded endlessly by a fawning media as the "cult of personality " developed around politicians.

I blame the Devil Incarnate Rupert Murdoch who hated and still hates the British "establishment" and set out to mould the UK in his vision.

he has succeeded.
