I do think that George Galloway deludes himself. He seems to go from defending one oppressive auttoritarian regime to another. North Korea is an absolutely bonkers place.

The whole Korean peninsular was isolationist from before Christ until the early 20th Century earning it the nickname the "Hermit kingdom".

In 1910 Korea fell victim to colonialism by Japan and it remained Japanese until 1945when the USSR & USA agreed on WW2 Jap surrender terms.

Soviet troops occupied Korea north of the 38th parallel while US troops took the south. This caused the ongoing division of Korea by two superpower ideologies unable to agree on Korean independence.
