TOPIC: Ding Dong Maggie - JK's view

Ding Dong Maggie - JK's view 12 Years, 3 Months ago
One terrific lady and a real leader. Much good and much bad. Helped crush the Unions - a great thing; Unions were and are vital but they had grown too large, too powerful and very damaging to growth. Didn't put enough structure in to protect the damaged. But I NEVER voted for her.

I thought she was very good economically (the 80s and even 90s were boom times for the UK economically - read today's Sunday Times). But not my thing socially.

Mind you, if she had been PM in 2000, she would never have allowed the miscarriage of justice in my case. I can almost guarantee that.

But whether you liked her or hated her, agreed or disagreed with her, she was a tremendous leader.

she created your miscarriage of justice.

she allowed the crook Murdoch to get away with his lies (the Times !)

she was right behind his dumbing down of the populace by dividing the working classes and the rise of pedo obsessed media.(Murdoch..has tried in the US but is now failing)

booms are always followed by busts...happened under Thatcherism (continued by Blair) 3 times.
Thatcherism : sell the farm to pay the mortgage and the lunatics will say "brilliant !!..."

As for unions...Germany did the opposite : worked with unions and allowed them to stay strong. Probably why they still make things.

Well, Hedda - I don't consider Maggie, Rupert or anyone else created my miscarriage of justice; hundreds of people did things that enabled it to occur (Michael Howard allowing prosecutions without evidence, for one). Global events change things - I do believe in the Chaos theory.

If any single person created the miscarriage of justice it was ME.

Whenever someone says 'lady' instead of 'woman' you just know you're due for the most insipid and sentimental kind of claptrap.

Maggie's policies...inherited from the crackpot Milton Friedman who was influenced by the psychopath Ayn Rand who instills in males the same type of heroine worship Thatcher does.... that insanely declared that rich wide boys in the city ran things better than civil servants, led to train crashes, suicides, the decimation of British manufacturing, the (weirdly) much hailed destruction of mines so that China benefited..a surge in house and utility prices, needless war and the horrible deaths or 275 young Argentinians and a social security bill that dwarfs the one she inherited.

Yet there are those who seem to worship her for no logical reason except perhaps they met her once and I'm reminded of that silly old Aussie PM who wrote a mawkish poem in the 1950s about The Queen...

“I Did But See Her Passing By…And Yet I’ll Love Her Till I Die”

but the This Is Not A State Funeral is a tactical mistake on the part of the Tories and shows how bereft of ideas they are.

Thatcher was clever enough to know a dignified small funeral would leave a better legacy.
Now her mistakes will be debated ad finitum.

I think she was a terrible woman with awful consequences.

However, I find the current witch-hunt/parties/Ding-Dongs extremely distasteful and pointless.

There really are more important and useful things to do than disrupt a funeral. I've never really got into the idea of celebrating a negative.

The thing is, Michael, that these people (who buy this rubbish) just show how stupid they really are !

Its the Thatchers of this world that own the record companies etc - and these stupid people are lining up to hand over their money.

Just like buying lottery tickets - taxation for the stupid - and they queue up to buy them.

Long may we have dim-wits !

Galloway often talks sense; often doesn't; like many a mixture of good and bad.
