TOPIC: The cost of petrol
#96878
The cost of petrol 12 Years, 3 Months ago
I filled up Baby Car yesterday - £30 from empty which will do me 500 miles!

Baby Car is incredibly economical to run. Wish I could say the same for Little Car.

Although diesel is a more expensive fuel than petrol (per litre) - I have found, over many years, that the milleage it achieves is much higher. So, in reality, its a much cheaper option.

However, I don't know whether your Suzuki or Roller has a diesel version - and, of course, some may think that diesel is not trendy. But to most, petrol and diesel cars look exactly the same.

I cant tell one car from another but this one looks very pretty.

I was thinking one of these might be ideal for my daughter next year. She will be doing mobile hairdressing while she studies so will need something cheap to run.

So I got into Baby Car this morning; gorgeous sunny day, for me a Marathon means a long car journey; despite a trip of 50 miles there and 50 miles back last weekend, the needle was on FULL. After today's 100 miles it was above three quarters full. It will do 800 miles on a £30 tank. Isn't that amazing?

As for your daughter Honey, I thoroughly recommend a Baby Car; delightful, reliable, fun vehicle; for me it was love at first sight, 18 years ago.

But how does it do that? I know it is tiny but even so.....

Thank you for the recommendation. It seems ideal for her because she only needs enough room for her equipment and she wont have the profit eaten up in petrol.
Above all else it is very pretty indeed and will suit her down to the ground.
She has a year or so to save up and find one.

Yes Honey - I almost can't believe the miniature petrol consumption. It must be a freak car but it really almost never seems to need filling up.

Perhaps the last quarter or so will suddenly disappear.

I've just checked Auto Trader. they have 5 currently for sale, ranging from £2k - £4k.All are either 1993 or 1994 models and range from 20k - 80k milage.

Without checking, I thibnk the car was only available in the UK for a few years. And I know JK has been constant in his admiration of the car for may years!

Interestingly, Brent Crude has been the same price recently that it was when petrol was just..... 97p a litre.

It is a little bit annoying that we live in a terrace and dont have a garage because I came across one that was an MOT failure for next to nothing that my boys could have fixed up, if only we had somewhere to put it.
Mind you, I think whatever we spend we will get back in petrol savings.
