Very good & well written, Chris.

Me wonders...Does Freddie's re-arrest have any connections, with former mates of Ms Ward?

Wasn't the case of Freddie, about to be dropped, through lack of evidence? Now, someone else has been brought forward. No coincidence, I don't think!

Prediction: Very soon Gary Glitter will be re-arrested. I'd put money on it.

it will be a blessing for these matters to be finally tested in court although I wouldn't wish it on anyone including Starr.

I still have a feeling this deck of cards will tumble.

I wonder if the Police are still tipping off the press prior to making these arrests, in a case similar to one reported by Anne Diamond after the death of her baby son?

Not with Starr this time Steve; the damage was done first time - as the Max Clifford method (as I like to call it) means the first burst of massive publicity does all the harm needed and brings out all the accusers (false or real) needed to make the second arrest and prosecution.

It is increasingly amazing & very strange (if not coincidentsl) that a case about to tumble, suddenly brings up another accusiation.

And (as been said before) in the Gary Glitter stuff. If Mr Glitter was such a perverted bloke (as made out to be) how come nobody (other than the NOTW set ups) has pointed the finger at him, in this country, in a more bigger scale? Girls used to hang around outside his house to look at him in the 73/74 period...but none have actually brought up any abuse stories. Which tells me, what a load of old baloney it really is. The only apparent thing about him is that he never came across as being that clever in the brain department.

fishing expeditions are frowned upon but OK when old blokes are to be crucified.

Every aging entertainer should be worried. Has any non show-biz civilian been arrested because of Savile?

The Vietnam thing looked like a set up and anything involving Karin Ward can be discounted, but he did admit to owning hard core child pornography, didn't he?

the fairly light sentence would indicate it wasn't in the worst category.

It's subjective though...some things are legal in the US that are not in the UK and remember...Page 3 girls.

I dont know of any society that allows the molestation of toddlers, and he was in England at the time.
The photos were of small children being sexually attacked and he admitted to owning them, not only in his defence but on his release.
I cant find the clip but I think he said that he deeply regretted his actions.

BBC news article about the conviction.....

Freddie Starr re-bailed again today for another two months. Either they have evidence of crimes committed or not!

Is it not proper that any such evidence is carefully examined and investigated?

Of course it is but I would assume (wrongly of course) that being arrested meant there was a lot of evidence of a crime. I my most recent dealings with police I was not arrested, I attended a voluntary interview and within an hour was informed no case to be filed. I just don't think potentially innocent people should have their lives ruined even more than the fact they were even accused will already do.

20 months maximum sentence for historical groping vs uncharged eternal bail.

But far be it for me to suggest the bent Metropolitan Police are having their cake and eat it to feed a population of retards.

Is there any reason why the police cant do the bulk of evidence before they arrest someone?

Re:Freddie Starr 12 Years ago
Quite right. Ageing celebrities? Are they a current danger? More dangerous than a potential terrorist aka those that killed that poor soldier t'other week? Or is it that ageing celebrities, make better news stories & have their careers destroyed, whether innocent or guilty?

Freddie Starr - A dangerous sexbeast? I think not. An egotistical arsehole, yes.

"The Police didn't get Savile. So, they are going for the next biggest thing". Hilarious on it's own. Is it the funniest thing that Starr's ever said?!
