They are about 18 months too late ... I said then that if we didnt help the Syrian people overthrow the terror regime they would turn for help elsewhere, and it seems as if they have.

The Yanks are now terrified that the people WILL overthrow the terror regime (exactly as I predicted !) and that the people will owe their thanks to others ie NOT the west ! - (exactly as I predicted !)

He said there was no way of knowing that weapons would not fall "into the hands of extremists within the Syrian opposition forces that have committed atrocities".

Former Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell said there remained strong arguments against arming the rebels: "How would you prevent arms falling into the hands of jihadists, if not now then in the future? What evidence is there that Assad will change his policies so long as he has the powerful support of Russia and the arms supplies that go with it?"

Foreign troops are still being killed by Taliban using American arms given back in the 80s.
Lessons from Afghanistan and Iraq have clearly not been learned,substitute Syria for either of them and it becomes clear the easy bit is to topple the bad guy at the top.The problem is all the other guys below can be even worse.

Many of you older posters will remember my campaign AGAINST Iraq and Afghanistan, where there was no humanitarian disaster (and certainly no threat or WMD), but this is different.

The males have a dog, same clothes all year regardless of season (usually trousers that look as if made from bin liners).

They live in council flats with 48" plasma TVs and have no carpets.

No, no ... they cant afford carpets (nor make-up or hair-do's) - money is better spent on mobile phones, McDonalds lunches, ciggies, cans of lager etc etc
