Houses 'better than green fields':

arriving in Australia a few hundred years ago I noticed one thing...property developers were regarded as Gods (as a result a city of natural beauty like Sydney is littered with ugly concrete disasters). Return to Britain and property developers are being lauded similarly .

Now this swivelled eyed loon wants to do the same and continue Maggie's most disastrous attempt to mould society in her own lower middle class image...a nation of 2 up 2 down box owners.

and this nitwit politician's lamentable ambition ? :"the only way we’ll get M&S back and get a John Lewis at some future point"

"dolers" could live in government built housing..instead of the madness that has been created by politicians who have turned every second Brit into a 'property developer' so we now subsidise people in private housing to the tune of billions.....an end result of Maggie's policy that has created an artificial property price boom that if ended (and it won't be despite your beliefs) would devastate the property market.

note : my main complaint is that this swivel-eyed loon moans there is no John Lewis or M&S in his town. When I lived in Shropshire for some years the whole joy of being there was that it was the country and one had to go to London for certain things.

That's what makes the country the country and the city the city.

government subsidised privately owned housing. We taxpayers are subsidising the build-up of private assets.

Corporate welfare run riot. That is the problem. It will get worse with the economic illiterate Osborne wanting to subsidise private home ownership just as Oz governments have done for decades and created the property prices more expensive than NY.
