Good grief! It would be bad enough it it was out of the blue but the residents had already said they were concerned.

Wonder if the tree would have been branded 'vile' if it had landed in the playground?

Typical council only deal with trees when the worst has happened. Same thing happened near me residents were complained about the trees and afraid to park near them, then one collapsed then council cut them all down.

Which brings us pedants to another point; every day now, on TV, in press, I see spelling mistakes and grammatical slips. Shoddy work abounds in today's media, simply reflecting the much wider problem of shoddy thinking, lazy efforts and half hearted research.

Apart from in the press where it should be checked and checked again, I dont mind spelling slip ups and lousy grammar (I am king of muddled tenses and typos) but I fly into a rage when someone says "Brought" instead of "bought" or uses numbers "4" letters.
