Eggs, Simon and silly stunts... 12 Years, 1 Month ago
I've always hated these disruptive stunts; when I produced The Brits I persuaded Bill and Jimmy of KLF not to spray the front row of the audience with blood as it would ruin the TV show for all the other acts and they agreed, instead depositing a dead sheep outside a government office.
I thought the Chumbawamba/Prescott act was silly and, worse than that, bad manners.
Jarvis Cocker's Michael Jackson Brits stunt was absurd and drunk.
The loonies who do this stuff have mainly moved across to the Internet (unaware of the ability for police to track URL's) but those who try to wreck TV shows still try and the Eggs episode was an example of this; Simon took it very well.

Exactly. That's his problem - his shows cynically use so many stunts each year no one with any sense will ever think anything ISN'T a stunt. And certainly if I threw eggs at Cowell - oh, what a dream! - I guarantee you I'd hit the stupid idiot in the face, several times, and it would hurt. I wouldn't just catch his jacket - oh, how terribly convenient! The sooner that odious twerp disappears from the screen the better. Surely he's run out of 1960s and 1970s shows to nick the formats from? I guess Juke Box Jury will be his next 'creation'. What a buffoon.

Make up your mind!
Well, I would never do it myself (unless they couldn't see me) but I and thousands of others were thinking how pretentious the performance was too, so I enjoyed it despite myself.
