Current films... 12 Years, 1 Month ago
Several friends are telling me that The Great Gatsby, though critically slagged off, is terrific. And they liked the Liberace movie. I've not seen either yet. Any opinions?

Me neither - though saw 'Summer in February' last night. Rather a non-story really but wonderful score and beautiful Cornish scenery.

I've seen both...lurved Liberace and Michael Douglas is wonderful.

Gastby in 3D is madness and good fun and worth seeing. Very visual..lots of colour and movement. Anything with Leo is very watchable. I think Luhrmann is the Ken Russell of Australia.

If you look very carefully you may spot Hedda in one of the party scenes. (quite near Leo )

Gatsby trivia :

So chronic are Rupert Murdoch's local newspapers , they labelled this pic as a 'scoop' snap with Leo and actor Barry Otto in red jacket who was of course, Jeff Duff.

Liberace movie is excellent. Shame it won't make the Oscars as Douglas would probably have been a contender.

Yes hedda - you won the bet. I have no problem in owning up to my daily mistakes.

Well done.

But the plural of 'euro' is euro....

Is it? I thought that like pound/pounds the plural is euros unless it is used as an adjective, as in "ten euro/pound note" ?

Under an EU directive - the euro has no plural and is always singular, like many other currencies.

For example, the English plural for the Japanese Yen - is 'Yen'.

that's all very well but how do I collect my pounds ?

US $$ will do.

I'm collating all the Gatsby bloopers (there are heaps) such as modern Sydney bits which stick out when it's all meant to be Long island & New York.

some are here:
www.moviemistakes.com/film9655

but they didn't get this one :

saw the liberace story and was amazed by it. Not particularly a fan of liberace, but was amazed by the brave performances by Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. Rob Lowe was absolutelty hilarious as the cosmetic surgeon. There were lifetime best performances by Damon and Douglas and a fabulous movie in all. Go and see it, it is the best film of the year so far, by far.
