In 50 years time, will we look upon Jeremy Forrest's conviction of a relationship with a 15year old with such disbelief.

I hope not, because I dont think there should ever be a time that teachers freely have sexual relationships with their pupils, and doctors with their patients.
The issue is not the age gap, but the abuse of his position.
It is not "abnormal" to be attracted to fifteen year olds but it was very wrong for him to act upon it.

I disagree, and so do the French (age of consent 15yrs), and the Spanish (age of consent 13yrs)with no special legislation for teachers or Doctors.

Isn't that what I said? Of course it isn't abnormal to be attracted to fifteen year olds. I mentioned it because the judge called him a paedophile, and therefore half of Europe too.
He was wrong to act upon his feelings because of his position.
If he had lived in Spain there would be no problem but he was fully aware of the law and expectations when he took the job. Even so, I thought the sentence was much too harsh.

It is interesting that Spain doesn't have any rules about teachers and doctors. I would imagine it is still taboo though, is it?
The situation about age is a bit daft anyway. A fifteen year old is supposed to not know her own mind when it comes to affairs with married men, yet ten year olds are considered responsible enough to be convicted of murder.
