Here we go Wimbledon! 12 Years ago  
Last year I bunged £100 on Andy Murray at 7-1 and lost it... this year odds aren't worth it but fingers crossed for our first Brit WimbleWinner. If he does it, it will be Ivan Wot Dun It!

Shock exit for Nadal against Darcis of Belgium. This smooths the passage of Murray to the final, due to meet the sadly declining Roger Federer in the semi-final.

In all of the Men's singles first round matches today, the leader after 3 sets was the final winner, which supports my theory that the men should play only 3 sets at least in the early rounds. Although I love tennis, I feel sitting through 5 sets of men's tennis can get quite boring is just just delaying the inevitable.

It used to be a great all-day spectacle: big singles matches during the afternoon, then some really entertaining, quirky, surprisingly thrilling and sometimes funny doubles games in the evening. Now it's just grunt city until the last three days of the tournament, when it (sometimes) gets decent again.

And what about our lovleh lass Laura Robson? I might put me greyhound betting money on her winning the Title this year. Her odds at the moment currently stand at 500-1. Winning that'll keep me in Guinness for the next 5 years, but ah won't tell me wife Flo if ah doo!

I remember at the time being stunned by a marvellous game (I don't think it was even a final) between Vitas Gerulaitis and Bjorn Borg.

EDIT: Google being my fweng; semi final 1977 Wimbledon and a classic match.
