Djokovic not at his best but Andy Murray quite superb (as I predicted when he took on Ivan Lendl).

Well done Andy, well deserved. At the end of the day he wanted it more than Djokovic, who seemed out of sorts. There will be no tears from Djokovic thats for sure.

Hope they don't go mad and give him a knighthood. Winning 1 wimbledon isn't extraordinary, or even 2 grand slams. Federer has won 17, most of the others have won several.

By the way, to all those who say Lendl never won Wimbledon - he did! When I interviewed him as a teenager in New York in 1980 he had won the Junior Wimbledon Boys title and I predicted he'd be a World Champion - also liked him enormously (very charming and attractive, not at all like his public image). I loved the way he played. In fact I was there watching him win the US Open in America on the day when (according to British Law) I was abusing someone in London - not that that seems of interest to the Court of Appeal.

My thoughts exactly but you know they will give him a knighthood just like Jonny Wilkinson, Steve Redgrave, Kelly Holmes etc.

There was a lot made of the fact that Marion Bartoli didn't play any major seeds to win the ladies tournament, but knowone is even mentioning the fact that Murray didn't play any top 10 seeds on the way to the final, then met an out of form Novak Djokovic in the final

Well I thought it was tremendous - even though only three sets, it felt like five. Every moment I was expecting Murray to tank (it's what Brits have always done). Djokovic kept coming back. Exciting. And clearly draining.

And at last we have a British champion. Don't know why Alex Salmond was looking so happy - nobody could let the Scots leave the Union now! We need them.

Got a nice E Mail from Simon Fuller - the atmosphere there was incredible.

I wish I'd been able to go. I've just got out of hospital after 3 months and I'm still taking it easy, but I enjoyed watching Andy Murray become the first British champion for ages. A very good final!

Just think what he could have got if he had actually done something that mattered !

It mattered to him, to me and to millions of others ITK. I reckon it did more good for the UK than some social worker.

I love the tennis and it's a wonderful thing-Wimbledon and so on but a knighthood for winning a game ?. I don't think so. Perhaps after a couple of decades of good works (like Sir James Savile OBE )

then again ghastly businessmen and tax avoiders get them.

I've said it before; I don't understand all this silly knighthood stuff anyway but surely I deserve one for my contribution to art? Could anyone deny Leap Up and Down - Wave Your Knickers in the Air?
