Benefits info for ITK 11 Years, 12 Months ago
Had a very good offer but had to turn here is why bear in mind I have the right experience it's local and get all the crisps I want.

As I'm on a joint claim my girlfriend would not be entitled to anything as it's 16 hours a week the government class that as full time work.

We would still get up with rent which be the same but still pay council tax as council tax benefit no longer exists.

After doing a benefits calculator and filling in all the right boxes and sums guess what ?

We be on the exactly the same income as being on the dole so ITK not everyone plays the dole majority want to work.

If it is exactly the same money then I think you should take it. It is easier to find a find a job when you already have one, and it will be something extra on your CV.

I disagree with this. It is easier to find work when you don't have work. For a start you have all the time in the world to go for interviews. For professionals, you get telephone interviews, plus first interviews and second interviews. Having to take time off for these is annoying.

Also you are immediately available to start, most professional jobs have at least 4 weeks, sometimes 2 or 3 months notice to leave, which can be quite restrictive.

Of course it will, honey! ... just as gaining extra qualifications (because you wasted the education that WE paid for) will help too.

ANYTHING is better than just sitting on your arse sponging off others.

You must have a very demanding job ITK!!!, judging by the amount of time you spend posting stuff on this website.

It is a very good point about having the time for interviews etc but if I was an employer I would choose someone who actually wanted the job, not someone who is forced to take it.

I thought if you were on the dole you were obliged to take any job offered?

I did not waste my education. Education wasted my time with teachers spending more time telling of unruly students and out of date literature.

It is often the way. fortunately the information is mostly online now so students in that position can teach themselves.

I really would reconsider the job, Andrew. There is always the prospect of overtime and promotion, and at least you will feel as if your money is your own.
