So... tea with Bean's Mum and Dad at Fortnum's new tea restaurant and they won't let me in; my smart blue trousers were "sports" (made by Adidas).
So I had to rush out to Jermyn Street and buy some Italian slacks at £75, change into them and return.
Great tea but silly rule - especially in this weather. So our tea for three ended up costing nearly £300!

I'm pleased to see Fortnum's upholding the standards I would expect of them.

Even I would dress correctly for tea at Fortnam's or The Ritz after an Eat The Rich demo.

I guess you had been admitted to F&M, yes, but the restaurant must have its own entrance and if you are refused admission, you are technically not thrown out of the Restaurant, you are given a free choice to leave F&M and return for admission wearing rule abiding trousers...........

Its the way the headline tells it...........but it isn't
