This new Toby Smith/Anna Chancellor production looks great so I'm taking Mistress Fry to it and dinner afterwards. At the Gielgud Theatre - next to where I met and talked to the then living great man himself, 45 years ago. Darling Johnny - when he was starring in 40 Years On at the Apollo in the late 60s.

Sadly never met Coward; my father knew him and my friend Allan Warren went to interview him in Switzerland and asked me to go along; I couldn't and Noel died shortly after; one of my great regrets was not going (Allan and I were reminiscing about this a few months ago).
