Billy Fury on Sounds of the 60s 11 Years, 10 Months ago
Every time I hear Billy's voice I think he was one of the most under rated Sixties singers. I knew him slightly and introduced Kenny Everett to him - he lived near my Mum in Surrey - and Kenny went on to marry Billy's then girlfriend, Lee.

Billy Fury and Kenny Everett were my hero's when I was growing up sadly Fury didn't record many songs and what was Kenny like as a friend JK, his it true he could easily alienate people and sometimes be awkward to get on with ?

Kenny was a very screwed up person Andrew but I loved him dearly and we were great mates in the 60s. He was quite like John Lennon; neither suffered fools gladly but if they liked you, no problem. I never had any rows with either of them - Kenny even lived with me for a while.

check out Fury's first album "Sound of Fury", andrew ... quite astonishing that this album (recorded in one day !) was entirely self-written.
Guitarist is Joe Brown and the drummer is Andy White (who stood in for Ringo on early Beatles sessions).
The album was relatively ignored at the time but is now considered a classic of its era.
Thank ITK Joe Brown is a legend seen him live twice great sense of humour and very talented so anything with him playing is worth it maybe I buy it with my dole money.

Interestingly, as the new Bank of England governor has said that interest rates will stay low until the unemployment rate falls, there will now be millions of workers praying for the unemployment rate to stay high !
