Not mental for it; the words "trying too hard" spring to mind. "We've got to make Celine sound more modern; more like today's sound" say bad A&R without seeming to notice that this year's biggest hits all sound made in 1995.

JK: you have a point. Plus, she has to tone down her voice to try and fit into this hiccupy/parlando style that is so common these days. I suspect her core audience enjoy her soaring lyricism.
