Sounds of the 60s - essential radio 11 Years, 9 Months ago
It's comforting that it's the most listened to radio show in the UK because it's such a good mix of classic smashes, obscure flops and interesting information - plus some good examples of how to write, record, arrange and produce. Listening to Dionne Warwick sing I've Been Loving You So Long To Stop Now (NOT by Bacharach/David) was a lesson in clever lyrics, good hook, fine melody, good idea and superb performance.
Someone should do the same for the 70s (as opposed to Walker's "this is music I liked plus a few token others").

I believe Twiggy is on every now and again; he got in touch a few months ago. SOTS is my only "must hear" radio show; If I miss a week I catch it on iPlayer.

Agreed but one other show I try not to miss is Pick of the Pops. There's always something worth listening to and Tony Blackburn, a DJ legend, is still great. They had 1965 last Saturday, Moon was a No 4, I wonder why they didn't play it
