Benny Hill 11 Years, 10 Months ago
Ken Bruce just played Ernie which is really quite brilliant in its awful way but my God, would Benny be suffering in this Yewtree age?

It really makes me mad these days that HONEST humour seems to have fallen out of favour. The 70's and 80's comedians may not have been high on subtlety but their jokes were what they were, could clearly be seen for what they were and could thus be responded to by the butt of the joke in any way they saw fit. Today humour is spiteful, deceitful and nasty and all about saying something horrid about someone in a way that appears to be nice but is actually not. Benny Hill was a man who liked looking at scantily clad ladies - is that really a surprise to the universe? (Lol) I don't want to alarm anyone here but men do lust after women!

The whole thing about 'perving' these days is a joke. Its o.k for a woman of 18 to appear on page 3 or for girls wearing next to nothing to be models on stage at Darts events or in Boxing rings but if a man makes a comedy sketch about looking at that girl then BOOM! the world is up in arms and the end of the world has arrived...

I am glad Benny Hill is no longer with us. The poor man had a lot of problems forming relationships wise when he was alive and so instead he spent his life making fun of the ridiculousness of living, sent himself up and found a way to make EVERYONE'S problems seem like cause for a joke. Dear Bella Emburg was such an amazing sport as was the little bald guy that kept on getting his head slapped.

Such a shame that the world today has lost its sense of humour...

I should say that the above post was by me. For some reason the 'remember me' function on this website doesn't seem to work and so I have posted a few things here anonymously thinking I was logged in. Actually, NO-ONE does ever seem to remember me - that's half of my problem! (lol) For a self confessed big mouth that a signature analysing machine on the pier at Brighton once diagnosed as 'autocratic' (a word I did not then know the meaning of!) that is somewhat of a surprise!

Anyway, just thought I would lay claim to the above post (and the one about Maggie thatcher with the long title!) just in case it offends anyone and they want to complain about me! (lol)

Forgot to add: my favourite Benny Hill character was the "Sirry Irriot" asian character. Not politically correct, but actually just a funny and playful routine about how language can get mangled, like Sheridan did with Mrs Malaprop and Dickens did with loads of his own characters.

Bernard Cribbins. That's who I forgot before. His old comedy songs were delightful. Right Said Fred. Hole in the Ground. Timeless gems.
