A remarkably good and forgotten (by me, at least) early Cilla single unearthed on the marvellous Sounds of the Sixties, the radio gem of the weekend.

Incidentally, I'm reliably informed that the ban on Gary Glitter and JK hits being played on the BBC remains in force, despite Mark Thompson lifting it some years ago. Why this is so - yet Oscar Wilde plays get featured and Dirty Den episodes remain in the EastEnders archive (in both cases, quite rightly) - is quite beyond me. Levels of criminality, let alone morality, influencing programming is a question far too complex for my limited brain cells.

I recently heard Liverpool Lullaby by Cilla Black. Until then I hadn't given much time for her music.
She's not half as bad as I used to believe.

The stories about her appalling rudeness and arrogance off the screen are legion.

She's never been either to me and was a total professional on The Brits 1992 when I produced it.

I'm sure she's fine with people she needs.

She never needed me - we go back a long way. But I do think MOST people - including celebs - have good and bad days. Though I'll swear nobody ever said "Don't you know who I am?".

Actually, I did experience it once. I was at the gate at Lords cricket grounds when a very famous medal-winning British sprinter tried to get in. He had tickets for a different entrance. When he told the security guard, "Don't You know Who I am?", the guard, as quick as a flash said, "Yes I do, so you should be able to get to the right gate faster than anybody else".
