Henry and Rupert Stansall, my two stars from Me Me Me a couple of years ago, have signed with Republic (a Universal label; their first hit came via the Tipsheet - Chumbawamba's Tubthumping) and have been touring and doing festivals all summer; now launching their first proper single and getting ready to break.

Had dinner with their charming ex manager Robert Macintosh last night at his fantastic St James complex near the palace... fabulous food in the restaurant, sold out seats in both their theatres... you can see it in The Pink Marble Egg (it was a location for some of the film).

I like these lads, best of luck to them.

I must admit, the single sounds very average to me, not a hit, and is it just me or is Henry slightly off key?

To me their appeal was the retro sound which this doesn't really have, it's not a strong song and you're right JK, his vocal isn't quite there either.

Disappointing.

I gather the single comes out next month with the album scheduled for mid 2014. They are performing at the Q Awards Friday night and hope to wow the industry audience. My fingers are crossed for them - both because they are friends and because, if they become huge, my Me Me Me movie will get vastly increased viewers.

Although I'm not convinced by the Universal route to break them; I'd have done it differently.

Oops I gather it's not the actual Awards show but a pre-Awards gig at the Jazz Cafe.
