People do not hate the mainstream because they are jealous.
They don't hate the mainstream because their songs aren't hits. This is similar
to JK's long tail argument about filters where he assumes my objection to it is
because my songs were rejected where that is not the case.
People hate the mainstream because the music is NOT good. Lefsetz goes on to point
out that this is a game to be played and then says that those who succeed only do
so because their music is good. If you read enough of his articles you will see
he is as big a critic of the mainstream as everyone else but he shifts the goalposts
to suit his arguments at times.
For this reason power should NOT be concentrated in the hands of the few because it would
be egotistical people like him who would BE the filters and their ego will get in the
way of their judgement which is exactly what has happened to the filters.
Record companies sign identikit artists. Radio stations are less adventurous than at
any other time in their history and they wonder why people are not listening anymore.

TRUST THE PEOPLE, THEY WILL SPEAK AND GOOD TRACKS WILL RISE TO THE TOP THANKS TO THE
DEMOCRATIC FILTERS OF PUBLIC OPINION.

We don't need the experts as they have proven to be corrupt and if what they did was so
good then why are we in the mess we are today?
