As mentioned, the CD pack does come with info and sleevenotes; it's been driving me mad trying to get them (plus artwork) onto Downloads.
All the tracks have been totally remastered - from simple basics like removing vinyl scratches to boosting bass or volume and more time consuming repair of the loss of quality from converting to MP3 (which is crap, sound quality-wise). People who never heard the top quality versions have no idea how much gets lost over time, with these brave new digital "improvements".
I've already had e-mails from America thanking me for restoring some of these classics; in many ways it was like doing a job on a great painting.
Total kudos goes to the mighty Steve Levine (that's why I spent so much time up in Liverpool in his fantastic new complex there).
Sorry Jk - you are going to hate me for saying this - but I am not a huge fan of remastering. Done well it can be an improvement but done badly it completely destroys the dynamic range of a recording. The other thing that bugs me about remastering is the old adage that you can 'take a recording out of the 60's/70's etc but you cannot make it a 2013 record'. Not only this but people buy old compilations of favourite hits or from a favourite era because they remember the songs as they were. When a remaster makes an old record lose its vintage sound it makes it sound like a cover version.
