Well she won't have to worry about getting a job or worse after her star has faded. Unlike a great many once popular acts who are parking cars or pumping gas (or even worse).
Popjustice once commented that Lady Gaga appeared to be someone trying to duplicate Madonna's entire career and squeeze it into just 2 years, and I think there's probably something in that...
The key thing is that she musically appears to entirely shot her bolt with the first album - those first singles (and videos) were all great, then capped by the spectacular "Bad Romance", after which came that awful duet with Beyonce, and it's all been downhill from there...
I do still like her as a character - she's clever and interesting in a way that (say) Beyonce can only dream of - but she has to remember that her "core" is as a pop singer, and once you stop delivering on that level, it shouldn't be a surprise if your fanbase deserts you, as seems to be the case here...
JK is right all stars burn out but a fair few of them come back time after time.
Gaga is just having a dip in form but so did the Beatles. Never the same after Lennon's
Jesus comments but who is going to argue about their status as legends?
Also all of the Beatles (especially Paul) went on to have more hits so rumours of Lady Gaga's
demise are premature.
IMO she is fading because there is nothing beneath the hype. 2 decent songs ("Bad Romance" & "Alejandro").
Have a listen to the acoustic version of "Poker Face", this highlights what a dreadful piece of writing it is. "Just Dance" & "Paparazzi" are just ghastly and these were off her stronger first album. As Metal Mickey rightly pointed out, "Telephone" was the beginning of the end.
Fans started losing interest with "Born This Way", even the cover is one you'd find on a "Worst Album Covers" website. "The Edge of Glory" for me has to be the pinnacle of bad songwriting.
Agree with you on Edge, RL, but I don't think personal opinion on the music, though natural, is helpful. I thought all the Spice Girls songs after Wannabe were crap but the punters didn't.
Spice Girls were the definition of manufactured, on every channel, merchandise on every shop even the post office, collectors cards bit like football stickers, didn't they sell more singles than The Beatles ?

How many of the punters who bought Spice Girls music still listen to it and of those who don't, how many do you think now agree with your opinion on everything after Wannabe?
My gauge for good music is longevity and that generally only comes with quality. If a hyped throw away pop song is your bag then I guess quality is irrelevant.
As yet we don't know if Gaga's songs will stand the test of time therefore personal opinion on the quality is all I have to offer.
Yes Duffy made a change too soon after her retro album which had lots of hits. At least Gaga had the brains to do it after a few albums. Gaga hasn't changed much, it's just that she has gone way too weird but will recover. The moral of the story is stick to your winning formula for 6 years. By then you would possibly reach the sell by date for that sound and you can go off with the fairies and do something new and if it bombs you return with your titre and tested formula haha. Merry Xmas everyone.
