Cee Lo Green has credited Gary Glitter as an influence on his music.
The 'Forget You' star explained that he "appreciates" the glam rock singer's musical legacy, despite his criminal history.
Glitter was one of the most popular artists of the 1970s, but fell from grace after he was arrested for possessing child pornography back in 1997. He was later jailed for child sex offences in Vietnam in 2006.
Speaking to Q magazine, Green also named Gary Numan and Duran Duran among his influences on his latest LP Girl Power.
He said: "English pop like Gary Numan, The Human League and Duran Duran. It's applying that to urban music and making it sound current again."
He continued: "I'm probably not supposed to say this, but for a while earlier in this project I had really got into Gary Glitter... It was singalong and raunchy rock 'n' roll.
"I'm very aware of the crimes [Glitter] committed so I would not like to have this misconstrued. But I appreciate the musical contribution and (what he did) sonically."
Girl Power is expected to be released by autumn 2014, and will be the follow-up to 2012's Cee Lo's Magic Moment.
