Morrissey may well be a very weird man but I don't consider any of the opinions he's expressing in that article particularly weird.
I am as far from a vegetarian as you can get loving red meat in all its forms but I can understand the point he is making. For me to eat a burger I accept someone had to kill an animal and take a life. For anyone believing all life is sacred then eating meat is a heinous crime and worse than any other possible crime.
Almost 30 years ago Morrissey released an album called "Meat is Murder" so this isn't exactly a news story. If everyone who held minority views was weird then most of people on this board would be considered as very, very weird.

BBC Radio chiefs will hold an emergency meeting to decide whether a song about molesting children can be broadcast tonight.
It is to be played on the David Jensen show on Radio One along with other numbers by the new pop group The Smiths.
The Manchester band’s controversial song is called Handsome Devil.
It contains clear references to picking up kids for sexual kicks.
The Smiths have been regularly played on Radio One shows.
As part of their live act they also do a version of Climb Upon My Knee Sonny Boy about picking up a seven year old in a park.
The band is made up of singer Morrissey, 23, guitarists Johnny Marr, 19, Andy Rourke, 19 and drummer Mike Joyce, 19.
Morrissey said of his controversial lyrics: “I don’t feel immoral singing about molesting children. People are so rarely prevoked
by the words in modern media this makes a change.”
A BBC spokesman said: “The music selection offered to the show by the group will be reviewed before it is allowed on the air.
