Re:Record Shop Day - did anyone notice ? 11 Years, 1 Month ago
Yes, there were a couple of articles I read. But I blame the shops totally for their demise. Failing to run efficiently or intelligently. There should still be thousands instead of dozens. The very few terrific shops were killed by the thousands of ghastly ones. Advent of online and downloads should simply have meant a different approach, not death. Mike Ashwell (of One Stop in South Moulton Street) and I used to groan about it every week.

I saw a few articles with photo's of people queuing outside record shops which is a great thing but I couldn't help but notice the average age was 40+, in which case it sadly isn't working.

Richard Records were an awesome independent shop, they outdid Virgin Records, MVC and staff at the local HMV referred customers to them, there was another record shop that opened next door to them, which was better and much cheaper they drove them out, 3 years later they closed as well.
