I saw this when it went out in the US. Dave Grohl's version of Hey Bulldog was the highlight. Katie Perry's version of Yesterday was the lowlight.

But DC5 music is used a lot in movies, if Beatles songs they are usually covers or bootleg takes. Ed Sullivan got millions of viewers all the time.

Ever been to Palace games ITK Glad All Over being chanted all the time ?

The Beatles' music isn't used as much because Apple turn down most of the requests or demand much more money. Surely you know that? And The Beatles got on the Sullivan show because he was so impressed by them. It was hardly an act of charity. Why you choose to be such a dogged nay-sayer about The Beatles is a mystery - can't you just enjoy those groups that you do without resenting historical facts?

I heard - it may be true or just gossip - that Sullivan was passing through Heathrow airport when the Beatles were returning (from Sweden?) and couldn't believe the hysteria - which sparked his interest to find out more.

I assume you are talking about football?

The last match I attended was Valencia Vs Man City (in Valencia) in 1973 (Malcolm Alison was still manager).

I've been to very few football games but went last December to the FIFA World Cup Final in Marrakech between Casablanca and Munich - terrific atmosphere, great fun. No Dave Clark though.

JK, I was there in the '60s but it's not me, sorry.

ITK, Sid Bernstein - the promoter that put the Fabs live shows on in the States - says the airport story is true. However, this report says otherwise.

I knew Sid too; fat but lovely man. Bramwell; perhaps you're related to the Brontes? Actually somewhere I have MY Bramwell's contact details so I'll e-m him direct.

We do have thousands visiting every day. Nowhere near as many as when we started (10,000 a day back 10-15 years ago) but still a lot. More now to the Your Views board than to this Tipsheet Forum, as those who care about music disappear into bland offices in Kensington.

I seem to remember that the Prime Minister (Sir Alex Douglas-Hume?) was also passing through the airport and no one took any notice !
