Surely anyone with more than one brain cell tries to pay as little tax as legally possible? Since when has it been a moral crime to avoid it?
David Frost and I set up a complex but legal structure in the 70s and saved millions in tax.
Then the government brought in retrogressive legislation and grabbed it all back - plus a lot more.
Cost me several millions.
Bloody unfair I thought.
But I shrugged my shoulders and went on earning.
When I've met the Take That boys I thought them all decent, normal, hard working guys who deserved every penny they earned.
Society has turned very nasty in more ways than one.

Totally agree. Surely anyone who opens an ISA is getting involved in tax avoidance.

Ah Pattaya that's just what I complain about. Hard working people who deserve to keep as much of their earnings as possible tend to be those supporting society with charity, legitimate taxes etc.

It is certainly true about "hard working people" supporting charities. The poorest areas of the country consistently give the most to charity.
