TOPIC: Site going downhill???

The truth

Site going downhill??? 18 Years, 6 Months ago
There are not as many posts as there used to be on this site and a lack of new bands. It just seems to be full of self indulgent blogs and visitors saying how awesome the site is?

I agree with you Truth; a sad lack of new bands or artistes.

I fear we may have lost many to MySpace and YouTube that carry bulk but not quality. The filter process that makes this site invaluable has been missed.

Let's hope new music makers pick up again (I've noticed several other music sites like ROTD and Velvet Rope are also suffering from lack of links).

I dig a lot of stuff, but reject 99%, on quiet days like today.
I`m sure like most Tipsters, I would not want to post something that I didn`t fully back then have to defend it.
Re; The blogs Truth, they appear from time to time to create a fun atmostphere, I think, in between tips etc.
Many of the bands tipped on here last year, are up and down the circuit currently, and can`t even send in reports of how they are doing, which is quite missed actually.
Going downhill? Nah, pre Xmas quietness.

My reason for lack of tips is the lack of quality I'm encountering. I certainly don't want to tip anything I don't think has a lot going for it.

I'd prefer no tip to spammy tips. (Though more tips would be good)

Second to that is a band I'd love to tip are finalising their track, so I have to wait for them to finish it.

As with all forums the tide comes in, the tide goes out.

I must admit I still check out hundreds of tips and haven't found anything even remotely inspiring for months.

The other problem is that when I do hear something good (like The Vacancy who posted on here over a year ago) the moment the majors get their hands on it they change it and adapt it and make an image and delay releases and the world moves so fast now that a smash from a year ago sounds weak in a new climate.

Here's one out of the ordinary. Pendulum are masters of the darkness that is drum 'n' bass. They combine the apocalyptic groove with vox and occasional prettiness.

Check "Tarantula" (the madness kicks in at 46 seconds).

"Hold Your Colour" is a great album (which means it makes my head bop).

Check tracks here:

The track "sounds of Life" was downloaded 60.000 times fromm Download.com.

Note: this is not a pop tip!

May not be pop but it's done well.

It has been said that people working in the industry visit here and I'm sure they're not all pop fans. Someone may find it of interest.

Unless I am wrong here and it's only pop to be tipped.

Just to show how important Tipping still is... 18 Years, 6 Months ago
...I just spoke to a colleague, and we linked a track from here, and the other main tipping site last week, and it had 150 + plays , mostly on Friday. The industry still needs tipping and scouting.

I do write on both yes, but I must point out, that ROTD was pointed out to myself by your very own board host Mr J.
