which is exactly what she does; her delightful country-pop songs - a great writer, looks terrific (about 35); plays a mean guitar, sings perfectly; good band and backups and balance - a class act.

Wonderful seeing thousands fall silent as Dolly sings her Coat of Many Colours - due a rerelease?

At least 100,000

Good (repeat) documentary (from 2003) followed on BBC Four.

Dolly is certainly very focused on her career and is said to be quite an astute businesswoman.

Good for her.

Yes all of those things ITK but most of all, a genuine, funny, nice human being. Meet her and you adore her.

She's caused quite a debate over miming, I didn't see her and am not too bothered but I do question playing guitar with nails that long. I can't properly fret chords with nails a few millilitres longer than normal.

Well I did wonder about her playing the mini sax and some of the guitar work but I thought it was either a good gag or real. Her singing was definitely genuine; on TV you could see the lips and face movement.

The problem is that many people don't have any grasp of the technical aspects of a production. She wasn't miming, there was a tiny gap between sound and vision at an OB. I don't know about the nails - quite a few guitarists these days (male and female) stick on acrylic nails for playing, so maybe they help. But the silly stories on Dolly were typical Mail nonsense. It's like the masses of people who seem to think that any loud studio audience laughter is 'canned laughter'. It depends on how it's miked up and mixed - ITV seem almost eager to MAKE it sound canned - and occasionally how it's edited.

This clip isn't suffering from any kind of sync issues as she's in time at the beginning, she forgets to come in for the start of the next line.
