Interesting - I was very involved in the early days of The Bee Gees (as Barry will attest) and absolutely adored To Love Somebody but Nina's version was quite awful compared to the sublime Robin Gibb original. Only goes to show - I adore Nina's treatment of my Everyone's Gone To The Moon.
Some they win, some they lose. Artistes are funny creatures and always in need of good direction and producers.
Mind you "No Nina that's ghastly" might well have been the most difficult words ever uttered.
Nina was a very difficult lady. But perhaps the biggest star ever - certainly one of the most charismatic - to sing "Moon" was Marlene Dietrich (read all about her performance of my song and my meeting with her in my book).
