Realising how great some musicians were compared to the weak photocopies by non artistes. Tragedy.
Before you say "but you did loads of covers JK" I answer - no, mine were alternative versions, as creatively unusual treatments of songs as the originals... I point you at my versions of Satisfaction and Hooked On A Feeling.

Bee Gees early stuff from the 60's is awesome then Disco came along and ruined them.

They got it back with the albums E.S.P. and One. (The "You Win Again" era - Still one of the best constructed pop songs ever in my opinion)

And I actually thought some of the disco stuff was great too; reminds me, I must book in a catchup dinner with Barry before he goes!

I had dinner with him and Robin and Maurice at the restaurant at the top of the Royal Garden Hotel many years ago. (Must have been during their WEA days as Jeff Beard was there). Most interesting people.

I heard, for the first time in ages, 'Spirits Having Flown' again the other day. What a gorgeous song. I always thought it was a pity that Barry, especially, seemed to worry so much about their supposed stature, when it was clear to all outsiders how good they were.
