Two of the best music books of the last 12, 18 months are Bob Stanley's Yeah Yeah Yeah. The Story of Modern Pop and Ta-ra-ra-boom-de-ay. The Business of Popular Music by Simon Napier-Bell, who provides a very well researched account of the always changing music industry: from sheet music sales to today's downloads and streams.

For music & sex there is Viv Albertine's Clothes Clothes Clothes Music Music Music Boys Boys Boys.
