Bryan Ferry In Your Mind 10 Years, 9 Months ago

Got this LP when it first came out back in 1977...in my view the best body of music he ever did.

I won this LP when it came out. WH Smith had a number of people handing out leaflets in the town centre. Some of them contained prize numbers where you could choose a free album of your choice. My friend and I, both aged 14, worked out which people had the winning numbers- I can't for the life of me remember how but we did, but we did say rather rudely to one woman who offered us a leaflet, 'sorry, you haven't got any prizes'

I loved the album. I haven't listened to it for years, o I'll head over to Spotify...........

Absolutely loving listening to this album again after so long. It has a relentless feel to it, very powerful arrangements and, a big plus for me, soaring backing vocals.

Not my beloved Angelettes David, who were on his first solo album. And he adored them.

I was 13,and unfortunately had to work part time in a factory to raise the grand total of £3.30.

I remember at about the same time buying The Rolling Stone's Black and Blue LP,and afterwards buying Ferry's previous release 'Let's Stick Together'....simple things, but in those days if you bought an LP you played it so often, not like in today's throw away musical times.

Two real highlights for me of mid-late 70s Bryan Ferry are The Price of Love EP and Both Ends Burning by Roxy Music.

Watching The Price of Love it's striking how good Ferry was with the camera on him.

I've often said the three most under rated great singers of the 70s were Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello and Bryan Ferry.

Brian Ferry is very underrated, I know it's just a cover album I always thought that Another, Another Place is fantastic album.

Where was this is factory Pattaya, my old art teacher had to save 4 months wages to see Hendrix, her job was just putting stamps on envelopes.

Amazing how many menial jobs were around in them days now it's done by machines and people who varied job roles.

Your right about throw away music I had my 70's garage bands CD's for years and Limp Bizkit for 6 months.

Both great songs of course David, but I always felt Brian peaked in '77,His first Solo long playing offering he wrote by himself (In your mind)...well almost he co-wrote this masterpiece!

Peter Gabriel has a remarkable voice, if it wedas a bed, I could quite happily curl up and fall alseep in it.

I have a confession to make.... This Is Tomorrow was my 'miming with a hairbrush in front of a mirror' track

It still sounds great today though.

Must be your sense of humour coming to the fore, rather than any sarcasm, JK: Elvis Costello has an abhorrent voice and is one of the most obnoxious, arrogant, self-satisfied people around. And that's just his good side.

No I think he's a really inventive singer with many great ideas - and some bad ones. As far as he's concerned personally; the only times I've met him he's been perfectly horrid!

He was very nice to me, but then again, most people are.
I think his voice is good but not unusually so, but his delivery is excellent, and his style unusual.
