ELECTRA by my friend Christine Rose.... released Sunday, what do you think? 10 Years, 7 Months ago
I've shared Christine's music here before, so here's her latest release, the ELECTRA EP.... out on 26/10/14

I had the idea of putting together an EP of electropop numbers to showcase that side of her work, as she gets most recognition for her soul/rnb stuff (an Independent Music Award in the US last year for example.)

So I encouraged them to release this and selected the tracks.

Christine's son Jean-Lo is responsible for producing and arranging.

The lead track, 'Your Heart Is Love (Radio Edit)'

It sounds as if she is singing a ballad with some unconnected noise in the background. It was jumbled, like being caught between radio channels.
Your friend has a nice voice, but the vocals are squashed.I would try a higher key, re-write the song, shorten it, and "lift" the tune. Slow it down and put a basic backing (with violin) on instead rather than the electronics. You need a proper studio with an experienced producer.

What sort of music does she perform live? I enjoyed the clip of her on stage.

"You need a proper studio with an experienced producer."

True, and not just experienced but someone who creates hits.

re Electra: the intro is too long and out of date. If you want your artist to get somewhere you must listen to today's charts and make your records equal to, or better, than those in the top 10.

Hard to do. Very.

Yes, they do need an experienced producer, for the moment they are doing things on their own as mother and son in a tiny French village with no money.

The song is deliberately retro, so the 'out of date' thing isn't realy a problem. The whole EP is deliberately a retro electrop/europop thing. It's had good feedback from people who are into Electro but I appreciate that because of that it may not be 100% hit material.

The stuff that gets the most universally good feedback is more soul-oriented. She's had that kind of stuff played on independent radio stations in the States and won a couple of indie awards there. However, that's not where he wants to go musically, she's more UK-oriented.

I would encourage her to pursue a career in the states and then she can work here on the back of it.
